Seems like Lil Wayne has a new title.. One we never thought he’d be getting.
According to University of Virginia professor and author Kreston Kent, who penned a new book about Weezy, the YMCMB boss can be described as a literary genius. The short book is actually titled The Literary Genius of Lil Wayne, and in it Kent claims that the rapper’s creativity and lyrical abilities can be compared to those of William Shakespeare or Bob Dylan.
Great art is great art whether it is consciously constructed or subconsciously produced.” Kent says.
Apparently, the the professor began studying Weezy’s discography from 2007 to now, paying attention to the his “language puzzles” and rhyme patterns. He also says that hip hop should be embraced by scholar purists.
We expect literary merit to be reserved for venerated forms of expression, not mixtapes and radio waves.” he stated.
