Niger Delta militants blow up pipeline in Delta state

A Niger Delta militant group identified as Urhobo Gbagbako, has blown up the NPDC Oil pipelines at Ighrenene, Afiesere and Ekiugbo communities in Delta State. In an email sent to reporters claiming responsibility for the bombing which occurred on April 2nd 2015, the spokesperson of the group, Priest Omodjuvwu, said the group, which consist of ex-militants, men, women & children of Urhobo origin, decided to blow up the oil pipeline following the continued neglect of the Urhobo militants in the pipelines protection contracts offered to ex-militants from other ethnic groups.

Spokesperson of the militant group, Mr Omdjuvwu said they decided to blow up the pipeline to draw government attention and demand to be included in the pipeline protection contracts.
"We have now resumed attack on the NPDC pipeline facilities on a massive scale, which scale of bombings shall be unprecedented,” the email read.

Nobody should celebrate Buhari - Etcetera writes

Another article from singer turned writer, Etcetera. Read below...
Why are we dancing? Why do we keep rolling out the drums each time we have a new government, only for us to start crying few months down the line? Is it that we are too quick to forget or we just love to dance? Do you celebrate a child who’s about to write his exams or the one who has written and passed? What is this jubilation for? Because I really don’t understand. Is it that the election of Buhari in itself has suddenly alleviated our sufferings? I am really confused here, hearing how six bikers lost their lives in Zaria celebrating Buhari’s victory. One would think that a people who have been shortchanged for so long by past presidents will know better to be calm and take every word of the new president with a pinch of salt until he proves to be different.
This process is becoming an unending circle, again and again we’ve danced and again and again, we’ve cursed and cried at the end. It is still shocking to me that a lot of Nigerians fell for the story that the president was born without shoes. Was anyone born with shoes on? Buhari’s triumphant entry into the presidency last Sunday which coincidentally was a palm Sunday doesn’t yet prove he is the redeemer. Just like the second coming of our supposed political messiah Obasanjo didn’t prove any significant improvement in our lives.

We all thought he was the one anointed by the gods to take us by the hands and lead us right straight into the promised land, where we shall have no more gnashing of teeth. But when he left office, the roads were still as bad as they were before he took office. The hospitals were still without facilities and most importantly, he failed to defeat the demon in the power sector even with billions of dollars thrown at it. The demons in the same power sector have claimed Jonathan just like they did Yar’Adua, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Sanni Abacha, Shonekan, IBB and Shagari. Even Buhari himself had already been defeated by this demon before. So what says it is not going to be the same this time around. Remember obasanjo was defeated twice by this same demon.
Why won’t our leaders take us for granted when they’ve noticed that we are always ready to jump to our feet and “judile” with the announcement of every new regime? When Buhari overthrew the democratically elected government of Shehu Shagari in 1983, many of you reading this took to the streets to boogie down. When Babangida sent Buhari packing a couple of months later, a lot more of you got drunk and vomited all over the place. Even Abacha’s sudden death brought smiles on the faces of most bar owners across the country as they ran out of booze. Is something wrong with us as a people? We are forgetting a very important fact that this election proves that we are and will still remain a divided people. We are divided by our ideologies with no realistic integration in sight. The election has also reinforced the thinking that we are divided by regional, tribal and religious interests and not national. These are some of the significant issues that will define our tomorrow.
Finally, some of you who are reading this may be saying, oh Etcetera, can’t you be optimistic for once? My brother, I can’t. Optimism and its younger brother, hope have proven to be very dangerous especially in Nigeria. They have sent millions of Nigerians to their early graves. What is the point of being optimistic in a system that has always left me in tears and heartache? Or is it till I get arrested by Mr. Cardiac? T

Pres. Jonathan & his family begin to move personal effects from Aso Rock

According to a report by Punch, President Jonathan and his family members have started moving their personal belongings out of the Presidential Villa in Abuja. One of the newspaper's reporters said he saw some buses loaded with travel bags moving out of the President’s official residence yesterday afternoon Friday April 3rd.
It is believed that the president and his family will return to Otuoke, Bayelsa, once his tenure ends on May 29th.
There are also reports that the reason for the early removal of personal belongings of the First Family is to allow for renovation work of the residence to commence before Buhari comes into power in May.

Presidency to investigate audio leak of GEJ's congratulatory phone call to Buhari

When we all heard the audio of president Jonathan's congratulatory phone call to Gen Buhari on March 31st, some of you thought it was leaked by the presidency to make Pres. Jonathan look good but according to new reports, the presidency is embarrassed by the leak and has commenced a discreet investigation into how the phone conversation was leaked.

The presidency is now trying to find out if the leak came from them or from Gen. Buhari's camp. A source told Saturday Sun; “Definitely, unauthorised release of a raw recording of the President’s telephone conversation, if from our (Presidency’s) end is a security breach that cannot go without being investigated,” the source said.

The source said if they find out the audio, which went viral two days ago, was from the Presidency, then further investigation would be conducted to fish out those behind it in order to mete out appropriate punishment.

CIA predicted Nigeria will break up after 2015 elections, it took GEJ to stop it - Doyin Okupe

Media aide to President Jonathan, Doyin Okupe says he never said anyone should call him a bastard if the APC won the elections and also said it took the humanness of president Jonathan to stop CIA's prediction that Nigeria will break up after the 2015 elections. What he posted on Facebook below...

Firstly I never said if APC survives "call me a bastard" what I said was that " I will change my name" that is the truth. So the prerogative of changing my name is mine. Bastard is not an alternative. But u can continue to say that if it gives u the kick. I really and truly don't care.

Secondly if I make a prediction it is my right to do so. A prediction is essentially what it is... A forecast or projected statement about the future. It does not have to come to pass. The Almighty CIA predicted Nigeria will break up after 2015 elections. It took the Godliness and intrinsic humaneness of one man to stop that prediction.

Whatever it is you guys have won an election that was keenly contested yet you are not satisfied. 12m Nigerians voted for Jonathan while 15m for Buhari. This is nothing to be ashamed of.

We are politicians and in our business we are at liberty to use whatever lawful means we have to try and discourage or put our opponents down. This is why when the game is over we down tools and joke with each other again.

Only inexperienced rascals and ill bred effusively emotive or misguided individuals will carry on as if a war has just been won or lost. It was not a war it was a game. Please cool your temper. Life goes on. WE WILL BE BACK
