A
heartless father and mother have landed in trouble after beating their
teenage daughter to death before hiding in a maize plantation.

Police in Keringet, Nakuru County have arrested a couple for
beating their daughter to death over allegations that she was
accompanying men at night during traditional circumcision ceremonies, eDaily reports.
The shocking incident which happened in Kenya was confirmed by
Keringet Location Chief Nicholas Kering who noted that Bernard Langat
and Tabitha Langat fatally beat their daughter, a Standard Two pupil at
Bararget Primary School, after suspecting she had spent Thursday night
with boys at an initiation ceremony in the neighbourhood.
“Our daughter’s behaviour was giving us sleepless nights and we
were just trying to correct her by caning her. Unfortunately, she
sustained injuries and while rushing her to Olenguruone Hospital, she
died,” the deceased’s mother Tabitha Langat told the police.
The girl's father was captured by angry locals after he escaped to
hide at a nearby maize plantation. He was later handed over to the
Nyumba Kumi officials.
Police recovered blood-stained Jerry can and clothes at Langat’s
home. The couple will remain in police custody until a post mortem
examination on the deceased is done. Thereafter, charges will be filed
against the suspects.
