If you’re struggling with body image, social media may not be the place for you.

According to psychologists, struggling with body image affects an individual’s sexual behaviour, as people in that category may be unable to undress before the opposite s*x and enjoy s*x.

People who have body image issue also have problems having s*x, psychologists say.

Add to this the extra burden of watching, reading or hearing posts about what a perfect body looks like, and you have a double whammy! Or so researchers say.

A research compiled by the online diary site Pencourage.com found that more than half of Facebook and Instagram users in England admitted that reading gushing romantic or fitness-related updates by users left them feeling very insecure about their bodies.

The insecure users were so affected by these updates that they were less likely to have sex with their own partners after reading other people’s posts.

“These findings go further than previous studies, which showed that intimacy is affected because we spend more time on our smartphones than we ever did before,” says psychologist, Dr. Richard Sherry.

“The growing trend of showing off sculpted abs, for example, as well as soppy romantic statuses, is damaging viewers’ self-esteem, specifically in regard to s*x,” he warns.

The researchers warn that photo-sharing by Facebook friends or Instagram users have a much stronger and negative effects on men.

Two-thirds of respondents said reading posts like that by other people affected their own s*xual performance.

More than one-quarter of women said when they logged onto their visually-driven social media accounts before bedtime, they felt “less sexy.”

Seven percent of the women said they were definitely not in the mood for s*x after checking their Instagram or Facebook accounts.

A 20-year-old nursing home employee, Alexis Williams, is in police custody on Wednesday after police detectives say she filmed two senior residents having s*x without their knowledge or consent and shared the video with her followers on Snapchat in August.

According to report, the victims who haven’t been identified are an 81-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man.

Detectives say the suspect who is an employee at the Bristol Court Assisted Living Facility on 3479 54th Avenue North in unincorporated St. Petersburg in Florida, was working at the facility when she secretly recorded the victims having s*x in a private room and later posted the video to Snapchat.

One of her followers saw the video and informed staff at the facility who contacted the authorities and terminated Williams.

Williams confessed her crimes on Wednesday when she was interviewed by Pinellas County detectives at her home in St. Pete.

She was arrested and charged with one count of video voyeurism and one count of video voyeurism dissemination, and has since been released on a $10,000 bail.

A proud mother-to-be has proudly shared photos of her pregnant journey at some regular intervals. The collage of pictures show her body structure and tummy size when the foetus was 4 months, 7 months and then 9 months.

The picture has been criticized by the Nigerian puritans and fundamentalists who questioned the reason why a seemingly married woman will go public with her body as she did.

It is not clear if the lady in question is a Nigerian as her identity remains unknown.

Abomination! Man Buries His Newborn Baby Girl Alive Inside Farmland...You Won't Believe Why He Did It

Abomination! Man Buries His Newborn Baby Girl Alive Inside Farmland...You Won't Believe Why He Did It
A father who just got blessed with a bouncing baby girl has shocked people with his actions after allegedly burying the girl alive.
File photo: Indian police officers

An Indian man who is being accused of burying his newborn daughter alive because he wanted a boy, has been arrested by the police.

The Indian police made this revelation on Wednesday.

According to Agence France Presses (AFP), local villagers rescued the baby over the weekend after spotting her feet sticking up from a shallow sand pit in farmland in the Jajpur district of the eastern state of Odisha.

The little girl's father identified as Ramesh Chandra was promptly arrested for attempted manslaughter.

The 35-year-old part-time taxi driver is suspected of taking the baby from her mother soon after she was born on Saturday.

"They were unable to explain about the missing child after we scanned the locality for expecting mothers," investigating officer Jyoti Prakash Pande told AFP.

He said Chandra under questioning had admitted burying the baby, saying he was too poor to raise a daughter.

Many Indian parents consider daughters to be a burden because of the huge dowries still frequently required for marriage, while sons are expected to support them in their old age.

The couple already have two daughters and a son and had aborted two earlier pregnancies, the officer said.

It is unclear what will happen to the newborn, named Dharitri by staff at the hospital where she is under observation.

A mobile video shot at the time of her rescue shows a villager slowly removing sand with his bare hands and gently pulling out the infant wrapped in a blue piece of cloth.

The baby suddenly cries as a large, jubilant crowd tries to arrange an ambulance.

The incident highlights the scandal of female foeticide still plaguing the world's second most populous nation, which has a skewed sex ratio of 940 females for every 1,000 males, according to the last official census in 2011.

Top Ghanaian Actor, John Dumelo Accused of 'Stealing' Government Car Begs... See Details

Top Ghanaian Actor, John Dumelo Accused of 'Stealing' Government Car Begs... See Details
More revelations have implicated Ghanaian top actor John Dumelo accused of stealing a government car worth millions.
Actor, John Dumelo

The truth has now been revealed about the allegation brought against popular actor, John Dumelo, as he has admitted to the crime.
In a new report by DAILY GUIDE, Dumelo was caught red-handed attempting to make alterations to the mode and colour of a brand new Toyota V8 Land Cruiser said to belong to the state, apparently to keep it for his personal use.

DAILY GUIDE reported that in the process of trying to change the colour of the vehicle, one of the police officers who led the Eagle Eye SWAT Team and some National Security operatives to retrieve the vehicle from the spraying shop where John Dumelo had sent the V8 vehicle, revealed that the actor actually attempted to influence them with cash so that they would allow him to keep the vehicle.

“John Dumelo told me the car belongs to the state but I should mention our offer so he sorts me and the team out, because we are all young men just like him. I said ‘no way’ because we are not government auctioneers and that we are not ready for such an arrangement to mention an offer and let him keep a state car,” Abubro Kosua, Deputy Commander for Eagle Eye SWAT Team who actually led the operation to retrieve the vehicle, narrated on Okay Fm yesterday morning.

According to the radio station, several attempts to contact Mr. Dumelo failed. The actor told DAILY GUIDE when it broke the story, “I will not comment on that incident.”

Since DAILY GUIDE broke the story last Friday that the National Security operatives and agents from Eagle Eye SWAT Team had retrieved a V8 Toyota Land Cruiser from John Dumelo while he was attempting to make alterations to the vehicle, the actor has declined granting the paper interview for his part of the story.

He has, however, taken to social media to explain that he actually bought the car in question – a black-coloured Toyota V8 with registration number GE 8118–16 and chassis number JTMHVOJ2F4159829.

DAILY GUIDE reproduces below a transcript of the blow-by-blow narration Abubro Kosua gave to Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on the Okay Fm morning show on Tuesday. The interview was granted in the Twi language.

Abubro Kosua: "We retrieved the car from a spraying shop at Abelemkpe. When we got to the shop, we realised John Dumelo had asked the workers at the shop to dismantle parts of the car and he had bought some new parts so they should replace it to make the car look different. He bought those new parts from Dubai.

This is strange because the car is a new car and actually a 2016 model so why buy new parts to replace equally new parts that have absolutely no fault. The rubbers were even still on the seats. This was a new car.

When we got to the shop, we had a hectic time before we were allowed in. The sprayers said they would never allow us inside until the shop owner, their master, was around. Their attitude even made us more suspicious. But we waited for over three hours for the owner of the shop to come around. He was at Prampram but we waited until he arrived.

When he came, we used a GC-Net software to check in whose name the car was registered, who imported the car and other details. The sprayer and workers there all saw the results that the name and details that came from the check showed that the car was for National Security. This means it is a state car."

Kwame Nkrumah Tikese: "Is it true that National Security cars are fitted with certain gadgets which make them look different?"

Abubro Kosua: "True, but we realized those gadgets had been removed and disconnected from the car and he was actually changing the parts and re-spraying the car to make it look different and impossible for anyone to identify."

After the GC-NET software had indicated the car belongs to National Security, we asked the sprayer to call John Dumelo and ask him to come over. We wanted him to be there before we take any action.

When he came, we put the facts before him that our intelligence report had told us the car he was spraying belongs to the state and truly too, when we checked the ownership with the software the result showed it was a state car so why was he spraying the car without informing the state and how did he even get to use a state car in the first place?

He said the car was given to him by the former first lady, Lordina Mahama. So we told him that should not be a problem at all because all we would do is to ask the former first lady if she indeed gave him such a car and what the arrangements were.

Then John Dumelo changed the story and said he actually bought the car from a company at the Spintex Road by name Sivani and that he had done part payment and was yet to cover the rest of the amount. We requested that he showed us any receipt or documentation as evidence of what he was saying or any paper whatsoever to prove that he bought the car.

Then he asked that he would speak to me in private so he took me aside and asked me that I should mention my offer so he sorts me and the team out because the car actually belongs to the state."

Kwame Nkrumah Tikese: You mean John Dumelo was attempting to offer you money so you let him take the car?

Abubro Kosua: "Yes, that is so. John Dumelo told me the car belongs to the state but I should mention our offer so he sorts me and the team out because we are all young men just like him. I said ‘no way’ because we are not government auctioneers and that we are not ready for such an arrangement to mention an offer and let him keep a state car

At that point, I told him that our information shows he actually has two of such state cars in his custody – a black one and an ash one – so he should let us know where the second one was even before we decide whether to negotiate with him or not.

John Dumelo’s response was that the ash V8 was with his girlfriend who had travelled outside the country and that he has no idea where she left the keys.

I asked him to send us to where the girlfriend had parked the ash coloured V8 so we could even tow the car, but he said he himself was travelling to the UK and that when he returns, he would send us to where the other car was.

We asked the sprayer to fix back all the parts that had been dismantled from the car and that we were taking it away. He fixed some and left some. We took the parts that had not been fixed back, took the car keys and asked the sprayer and John Dumelo himself to follow us so they would know where exactly we were sending the car.

We did not want a situation where Dumelo would get up one day and say he had no idea where we took the car and that the car was his and tell a different story. He said he would not follow us but we should go with the sprayer rather. So on that note, we left with the car from the spraying shop.

We drove straight to the Sivani Company on the Spintex Road – the company John Dumelo claimed he bought the car from. When we got there, we went to the manager and explained the situation to him and the fact that John Dumelo claimed he bought the car for them and had not finished paying.

The manager said John Dumelo had never bought any car from Sivani. On hearing this from the manager, I called John Dumelo on phone and told him I was with the managers of Sivani and that they had denied ever selling any car to him. So he should let us know which person from Sivani sold the car to him so we follow up from there.

I also told him he had the option of coming over to sort it out with his Sivani people or speak on phone, but he cut the line and truncated the call. I called again and he truncated the line again. This means he had failed the test and could not answer the questions."

Kwame Nkrumah Tikese: "If you claim John Dumelo attempted to bribe you, why did you not cause his arrest?"

Abubro Kosua: "You are right in saying his attempt to bribe us should have been enough reason for us to cause his arrest. Our focus was on retrieving the car from him and getting him to lead us to retrieve the other car. I am not a small boy to take bribes from John Dumelo and let him steal a state car.

That was our focus. We were interested in getting him speak the truth so we get back the cars; so our focus was not on using police force or doing something else."

Nigerian Lawmakers Could Override Buhari If... - Reps Speaker, Dogara Opens Up
While speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, the speaker of the Federal House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara, spoke out on why the lawmakers could override President Buhari if he vetoes Peace Corps bill.
Speaker Yakubu Dogara

Nigerian legislators could override President Muhammadu Buhari if he vetoes the Nigerian Peace Corps bill which seeks to make the private organisation an agency of government, Speaker Yakubu Dogara said on Tuesday.

In an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, the speaker said the National Assembly believes the Peace Corps will bolster Nigeria’s current security and law enforcement capabilities.

If the president “doesn’t assent for whatever reason” to the Peace Corps Bill, “we are at liberty to recall it back to parliament and muster the two-thirds in the House and Senate and pass in spite of Mr. President’s veto,” Mr. Dogara said.

Mr. Dogara, however, said any action to be taken by the lawmakers would be determined by Mr. Buhari’s reaction to the bill, already passed by each of the chambers of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly’s passage of the Peace Corps Bill despite strong opposition from existing government agencies has set the group on a collision course with the police, State Security Service and the Nigerian Army.

On February 28, the Nigerian Army, police and the SSS in a coordinated mission stormed the Peace Corps’ head office in Abuja, arresting its founder, Dickson Akoh, and other national leaders while shutting the facility down.

The next day, the police paraded Mr. Akoh and his officials, 49 in total, and accused them of running an outlawed organisation with intent to perpetrate fraud and jeopardise national security.

The police said a 2013 “official gazette” of the Nigerian government “dissolved and proscribed illegal security outfits” which included the Peace Corps.

Mr. Akoh, who heads the Peace Corps as its national commandant, and his officials were later released, but their office remained shut nationwide.

He was, however, rearrested on March 19, and has remained in police custody ever since.

But the Speaker said the parliament will not be distracted by the antics of existing security agencies, adding that the country cannot spend too much on security.

“We cannot overspend on the issue of protecting the lives and the properties of our citizens, we cannot,” he said.

‘A PRIDE OF THE SOCIETY’

Mr. Dogara said the police and other security agencies were acting in a manner similar to how they treated the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in the run up to its adoption by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

The Head of Service of the Federation, Independent National Electoral Commission, National Security Adviser, Ministry of Interior and the Federal Ministry of Health joined other security agencies to kick against passage of the Peace Corps bill in the National Assembly last year, citing issues from lack of sufficient funds to duplication of duties.

Most of them opposed establishment of the NSCDC, and its founder, Ade Abolurin, was arrested on numerous occasions.

Today, Mr. Dogara said, the NSCDC has become a force for good in the country, perhaps even more than the police.

“That was the same argument when the Civil Defence Bill was before the House, that it could not be funded, that they were divulging some of the powers of the police to the Civil Defence— that it would never work.

“At the end of the day all these were surmounted and now we have the Civil Defence that in some cases some citizens have said that they are more dependable than the conventional police.

“I see them everywhere I travel to and they have become a pride of the society,” Mr. Dogara said.

Jumia Delivery Man Killing: Watch Suspects' Interrogation Video

The men of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested two murder suspects accused of killing a delivery agent of a popular e-commerce firm and dumping his body in a septic tank.

Mbatumukeke, his girlfriend and Naabe

A delivery man with an online marketing store, Jumia, Mr. Chukwuma Eleje, has been killed in a house on Ada George Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The victim was said to be delivering two mobile phones to some customers, who had ordered for them through the Internet on Saturday, when he was attacked and killed.

The assailants were reported to have dumped his remains in a septic tank in a desperate attempt to cover up the crime. However, operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad were said to have been alerted by residents.

The officials were reported to have swooped in on the suspects identified as Naabe and Mbatumukeke. Naabe, who claimed to be on a visit, said he saw Mbatumukeke pushing the deceased into the septic tank.

He said, “On my way to this place, I saw him (Mbatumukeke); he was packaging something like a black waste bin. He was saying I should just go inside and chill out. He said he would soon join me in the room.

“I overheard some neighbours asking him what he was doing close to the septic tank and he gave them an excuse. I went inside and saw bloodstains in the bathroom.

“When I queried him, he brought out a gun and pointed it at me, saying if I uttered a word about what I saw, he would kill all my family members.”

The second suspect, Mbatumukeke, claimed that Naabe killed the victim, adding that he hit the courier man with an iron on the head.

“He hit him with iron on the head and blood was gushing out. I was afraid; I was vibrating. I didn’t know what to do. God is my witness,” he added.

When a Punch correspondent visited the scene on Tuesday, he observed that the house was deserted.

It was gathered that most of the tenants in the building began to leave the house after policemen recovered the corpse.

Will the Cost of President Buhari's Medical Bills Be Disclosed? Checkout What the FG is Saying About the Matter

Will the Cost of President Buhari's Medical Bills Be Disclosed? Checkout What the FG is Saying About the Matter
As the speculations become rife on whether or not the cost of President Muhammadu Buhari's medical bills will be disclosed, the Federal Government has reacted.
President Muhammadu Buhari

The Federal Government on Wednesday said despite pressure from groups and individuals, it would not disclose the amount spent on President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent medical treatment in London, the United Kingdom.

According to The Punch, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said this while answering reporters’ questions at the end of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Buhari had been under pressure to disclose the amount spent on his 49-day medical treatment in London, saying it is still important for the citizens to know the cost of the President’s medical treatment abroad.

The Punch had in line with the Freedom of Information Act sent a letter to the Presidency requesting it to provide for public consumption Buhari’s medical bills incurred in the UK.

But Mohammed said the request should be considered on the basis of national security and morals.

He said he was not aware of anywhere in the world where the President was forced to divulge his medical bills.

The minister said even the FOI Act excluded issues bothering on national security.

Mohammed said, “This matter (the President’s medical bill) has come several times and our position on the matter is quite straight forward.

“What are the President’s conditions of service? What are his entitlements in terms of his well-being and health care? The state is supposed to take responsibility for these.

“We believe that asking for how much has been spent on the health of the President is an issue that we should weigh very well both for national security and also for moral issues. I don’t know why we must divulge such very sensitive information.

“I might be wrong but I don’t have experience else where that the President of any country will be ill and be forced to disclose how much the state has spent on his health.

“Yes, there is Freedom of Information Act but it is also carved in such a way that when such information is likely to endanger national security, I think it is an area that is not covered.”

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), and the Campaign for Democracy, among others, had said it had become imperative to release the President’s medical bill in the UK because his administration rode to power on the pedestal of transparency, anti-corruption promise and change and therefore could not afford to hide such information from the public.

Buhari had written the Senate that he would embark on medical vacation for 10 days, between January 23 and February 6, 2017 and that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would act on his behalf.

However, a second letter written to the Senate on February 5 informed the lawmakers of the President’s wish to extend his leave indefinitely. The letter had stated that the extension was to enable him to complete and receive the results of a series of medical tests.

SHOCKING! Checkout The Ethiopian 'Fat Man Contest' Where N*ked Men Drink Cow Milk and Blood to Gain Weight (Photos)
A local tribe that is far detached from the modern world has been discovered in Ethiopia and they have a rather weird event called 'Fat Man Contest'.
An Ethiopian tribe holds fat man competition every year where the men compete to get the biggest belly

A report by The Sun UK has revealed that an Ethiopian tribe holds a bizarre fat man competition where tribesmen compete to become the most rotund.

The Bodi tribe live in the deep south of the African country and the contest is done annually to celebrate the tribe’s new year.

The competitors spend six months preparing for the big day with strict rules surrounding the event.

The tribesmen will also spend hours in the hot sun running around a sacred tree

For half a year the men feed themselves solely on fresh milk and cow’s blood to fatten themselves up for the big day.

During this time they are not allowed to leave their huts or have s*x, but they are waited on hand and foot.

Women and girls bring them milk every morning in their quest for big gut glory.

Battle of the bulge: the tribesmen gorge on blood and milk to increase their girth

The only prize for the winner is fame and the adulation of his fellow tribesmen.

The area of the Omo Valley where they live does not welcome tourists meaning their traditions have been left largely undisturbed for generations.

The men spend the six months before in small huts where they are waited on hand and foot by the women of the tribe

The men drink the blood almost straight from the cow after the beasts are punctured with a spear

Some men struggle to consume the entire bowl of blood as it quickly becomes swamped with flies

The competing fat men cover their bodies in clay and ashes as part of the ceremony

The clay is used to whiten the skin of the competitors in an ancient tradition

The women take care of the fat men: they give them alcohol, remove the sweat, and sing for them to keep them awake

University of Jos Dissolves SUG over N45,000 Fees

University of Jos Dissolves SUG over N45,000 Fees
Students Union Government of the University of Jos, Plateau State has been proscribed by the school authorities over a protest that went south.

The University of Jos (UniJos) has dissolved the institution’s Students Union Government (SUG). This is contained in a statement issued in Jos on Wednesday by Mr Abdullahi Abdullahi, UniJos Principal Assistant Registrar, Information.

According to the statement, the university has constituted a five-man Caretaker Committee in place of the SUG. The statement quoted the UniJos Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sebastian Maimako, giving reasons for the dissolution to include protest by the SUG against the new school charges of N45,000 as directed by the Federal Government.

Other reasons, the statement said, included the SUG’s decision to convene a meeting of students without due approval from the Directorate of Students Affairs, which resulted in a protest with the students carrying placards.

It added that the SUG officials had similarly mobilised students to attend the stakeholders meeting where parents were shouted down.

“They externalised an internal issue, affecting the university without following the acceptable laid down procedures for conflict resolution in the university.

“They were also intimidating and issuing threats to law abiding students, including fresh students who were willing to comply with the payment of the new school charges.

“The SUG officials also maligned principal officers of the university, including the VC on various media platforms.

“Using the social media, they misinformed members of the public on the action taken by the university authorities in the process of implementing the new school charges,” the statement read in part.

According to the statement, management had on several occasions invited the SUG officials to dialogue on the matter of the harmonised school charges for federal universities, but they remained intransigent and refused to see reasons.

It added that the students, by all the actions taken by the dissolved SUG officials, clearly indicated their desire to disrupt the smooth running of the institution.

The vice chancellor, in the statement, therefore, directed the dissolved SUG officials to handover all properties belonging to the union in their possession with immediate effect.

Maimako, thereafter, announced the constitution of a five-man Caretaker Committee of the SUG with Wuyep Nansar as Chairman.  It also announced Timdi Nkat as Secretary, Yilmazaka Gershinen, Idi Ishaku and Ekweozor Nzube as members. According to the statement, the vice chancellor charged the committee to maintain the spirit of discipline and dedication in line with the university’s motto.

Nansar, on behalf of the other members of the committee, promised their readiness to put in their best to contribute to the peace and progress of the institution.

He said they would use their wealth of experience to work with the students, management and all stakeholders for the benefit of the system.

Senator Ndume's Suspension, a Warning That Buhari Can Be Impeached - Nigerians React to Senate's Action
Some Nigerians have applauded the suspension of Senator Ali Ndume, some simply think it's wrong, while some say it's a warning to the presidency indicating that Buhari can be impeached. Here are some of the interesting comments.
Senator Ali Ndume

We had reported earlier that the Nigerian Senate suspended its former leader, Ali Ndume, who had asked for investigation of allegations of importing a bullet proof Range Rover with fake documents involving Senate President Bukola Saraki and that of perjury involving Dino Melaye.

The lawmakers reached the decision on Wednesday after the resolution to uphold the recommendation of the committee on Ethics and Privileges chaired by Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

Ndume was subsequently suspended for six months, instead of one year originally recommended by the Ethics committee.

As the news emerged online, Nigerians took to their social media to air their views and react on the latest drama which emanated from the National Assembly.

The U.S Secret Service Can No Longer Afford the Trump Large Family Lifestyle...See Details of New Budget

The U.S Secret Service Can No Longer Afford the Trump Large Family Lifestyle...See Details of New Budget
The American Secret Service's budget have revealed that the security at the President Trump's private residence at Trump Tower, his large family and unusual living situation are apparently weighing heavily on the nation's resources.
The Trumps

President Donald Trump’s frequent travel, large family and unusual living situation are apparently weighing heavily on the Secret Service’s budget.

The agency recently requested an additional $60 million in spending for fiscal year 2018, according to a Washington Post report on Tuesday. Nearly $27 million of that was to be earmarked for security at the president’s private residence at Trump Tower in New York, where first lady Melania Trump lives with their 11-year-old son. The Secret Service also said it needed another $33 million to cover travel costs incurred by “the president, vice president and other visiting heads of state.”

The Office of Management and Budget rejected the request, a source told the Post, which could potentially force the Secret Service to scale back on other operations, like investigations into cyber hacking, counterfeit currency, financial crimes or missing and exploited minors.

The Post report comes amid questions about the president’s regular weekend jaunts to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Trump has made at least five trips to the “Southern White House” since his inauguration, each time costing taxpayers an estimated $3 million or more.

Providing Secret Service details for the first lady and the rest of Trump’s family, including his four adult sons and daughters, has also led to mounting costs. Although this level of protection is standard for the first family, the specific needs of Trump’s older children have attracted scrutiny.

In February, for example, Eric Trump flew to Uruguay to promote the Trump Organization. The trip ended up costing taxpayers nearly $90,000 in hotel bills for the Secret Service agents who accompanied him, leading to renewed criticism of how the president’s business interests intertwine with government functions.

The idea of taxpayers footing higher bills to protect the wealthy Trumps may not sit well with critics of the harsh federal budget the president released last week. Trump’s plan proposes eliminating a number of antipoverty programs.

At a press conference this week, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said there was no hypocrisy here.

“Presidents always travel,” said Spicer. “The president, wherever he goes, he carries the apparatus of the White House with us. That is just something that happens.”

Drama in Lagos: How Actress Omoni Oboli Broke Down in Tears as Court Stopped Her Movie Premier Last Night (Video)
Actress Omoni Oboli was captured on camera breaking down in tears as court stopped the premiere of her new movie, Okafors law. This comes after a Canadian based writer accused the actress of stealing his idea for the movie.

Actress Omoni (in white) announcing the cancellation of the movie at the premiere

Few hours ago on Saturday night at the venue of the premiere of a new movie "Okafor’s Law", Nollywood popular actress and filmmaker, Omoni, was stopped from showing the movie following a court injunction for copyright infringement/trademark violation case between her and popular writer, Jude Idada.

According to eyewitnesses at the venue who captured the moment on camera, Oboli wept as she addressed the audience, intimating them of the development. The injunction has also stopped the distribution of the movie which slated for launch on March 31.

Here's how it all began...

Sometime in September 2016, one Jude Idada accused Omoni Oboli of copyright infringement for the movie, Okafors Law. He accused her of using his storyline.

She, however, kept mum and went on to promote and set a release date for the movie for March 31st with the premiere, yesterday, 24th of March, 2017. The matter taken to court for the copyright infringement and trademark violation.

Yesterday, an injunction was gotten for Okafor's Law to prevent its premiere and also the release on the 31st of March. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Defendants in the case, are Omoni Oboli, Dioni Visions & Filmone Distribution. At the premier, yesterday, the actress broke down in tears.

The Canada based writer, Jude Idada, had accused Omoni Oboli of stealing his story and idea for her new movie "Okafor's Law." He also stated that Oboli copied his idea for her directorial debut, "Being Mrs Elliott."

In 2014, Idada was invited over by the Obolis, who told him about their new project "Okafor's Law." According to Idada, he 'let his guard' down, and shared ideas with Omoni's husband, Nnamdi Oboli.

They offered him the scripting contract, which he accepted, and after much deliberation charged N750,000. He demanded for a contract.

"I wrote the contract, and I called Nnamdi over the phone. I said 'Nnamdi, I have sent you the contract, let me know when you sign it. He said ok." After a month and a half with no response from them, he gave the script to a friend of his (Chioma), who loved the story. .
.
"In the contract I sent to them, I said to them, Okafor's Law is yours, but the story is mine. If at the end of the day, you don't want to go ahead with the script, I will take everything and give you "Okafor's Law," because that's all you have contributed."

According to him, the Obolis found out about his deal with Chioma, and told people he stole their story. "In 2016, they started shooting. When I read the story, I saw that it was my story. All she did was change the names, but it was essentially my story," Idada said.

An innocent 16-year-old boy has met his untimely death in the hands of a reckless and trigger happy police officer in Imo state.
Obinna Iwuoha was shot dead by a trigger happy police officer

A sad incident has claimed the life of a 16 year old boy, Obinna Iwuoha, who was allegedly shot dead by a trigger Happy police Sergeant, Wilson Ufere on Thursday at the infamous "Ugwu Omiri Lawyer" on Anara - Umuahia expressway in the okohia community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to reports, the policeman had gone berserk and shot the innocent boy dead before attacking three others who are now in coma due to the severity of bullet injuries they sustained in the encounter.

It was gathered that trouble started after some youths, mainly teenagers who were in a rally for their church crusade which was billed to start on March 25 (today) had a flat tyre, at “Ukwu Omiri lawyer”, a metre away from where some police men were on a road duty.

One of the police officers insisted that the youths must remove their vehicle from the place, but the youths of Emmanuel Healing Power Ministry Incorporated, Uguiri, told the cop they were unable to move a vehicle with a flat tyre. An altercation reportedly ensued between one of the police men and the driver, resulting in the police officer allegedly slapping him consistently for three times.

Ufere, who was on the other side of the road and was not a party to the argument, emerged from nowhere, shot at the youths at a close range, killing one of them while three others lost consciousness.

Meanwhile, villagers have gathered at the residence of the deceased to mourn his death.

I've Forgiven My Girlfriend After She Poured Me Acid and Disfigured My Face - 24-year-old Victim

I've Forgiven My Girlfriend After She Poured Me Acid and Disfigured My Face - 24-year-old Victim
For breaking up with a girl, a Nigerian man has been disfigured after his former girlfriend came to his home and poured him acid.
Acid attack victim, Iniubong Ime

A Nigerian man has taken a hard step by forgiving his former girlfriend who disfigured his face by pouring acid on him because he ended their relationship.

The man identified as Iniubong Ime, 24, was attacked by his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend Lucy Daniel.  He narrated what led to attack and how the ex-girlfriend shocked her that unfateful day in an interview with Daily Trust.

How was your relationship with ex-girlfriend Lucy like?
We dated for about a year and I discovered she is a troublesome person. She was causing trouble between me and my mother, my siblings and my friends, she caused trouble between me and everyone close to me, and succeeded in driving people away from me. So I decided to quit. She initially left but later started coming back, pleading that I should accommodate her, and that she wasn’t working and didn’t have anywhere to stay. Rather than accommodate her, I got her a job and also rented an apartment for her.

Thereafter, I told her that I had gone beyond my ability and she could continue her life from there. I pleaded with her to understand that we could no longer date. That was last year. She relaxed for a while and this year, she started coming around again. She would come at ungodly hours, so I told her that I didn’t welcome such visits and whenever she came around I would send her back.

How did she take it?
Of course, not peacefully. Even when she wasn’t coming around, she was always monitoring my movement and I knew it. But I didn’t bother because I had nothing to do with her anymore. Sometimes, when she spots me with anyone, male or female, she wouldn’t care to know who the person was and would just begin to insult them.

How did the acid attack happen?
On Monday, March 6, 2017,  I went to bed early but was woken up by a sound outside my door at about midnight. When I woke up I saw that my window net had been torn and I decided to find out who was at the door. When I opened the door, I saw it was Lucy, and before I could say anything she splashed the acid on me and ran away. I was in serious pain, and the burns on my body are severe. The only thing I could do at that point was to rush to a bucket of water which I usually kept in my room and poured it on myself with the hope that it would ease the pain. I then began shouting for help and people started coming out, including my siblings who were in the next apartment. They brought me to the hospital.

After the incident, what was the reaction of her family?
Her mother was very angry. She is still not feeling well because she is hypertensive, so I can understand with her. She called me and said she would have nothing to do with Lucy henceforth. I was even told that the mother made efforts and apprehended her, took her to a local government chairman and was to be handed over to the police the next day. I don’t know what the chairman did and Lucy escaped from his custody. She’s still at large.

My aunt has since reported to the police. But our major concern now is for me to recover. My treatment bills are being footed by my family and friends and it has not been easy. You know that injuries of this magnitude need a lot of care and money. So, I will appreciate if government at any level, interest groups and kind-hearted individuals can come to my aid so that I can recover.

When you recover, will you seek vengeance?
That wouldn’t solve anything. I have decided to let it go and forgive her. In fact, I forgave her from the very day it happened. I thank God I’m still alive. I won’t take her back because I had long broken up with her before the incident. But I can relate normally with her. I have no hard feelings towards her. We won’t be lovers again, but she won’t be my enemy either.

Did you at any point promise to marry her?
Not at all. I don’t make promises I cannot fulfill. I only told her that if we were meant for each other, destiny would bring us together. I however advised her that if she saw any other suitor, she could go ahead and marry him.

Dino Melaye's Bachelor of Arts Certificate is Fake - Ahmadu Bello University

Dino Melaye's Bachelor of Arts Certificate is Fake - Ahmadu Bello University
The management of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria has said that the Bachelor of Arts certificate purportedly obtained by senator Dino Melaye from the institution is fake.
Dino Melaye

The qualification scandal that has enveloped the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has deepened.

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria said it only offers B.Sc. Geography and not B.A. Geography as reflected on Melaye's statement of results. But Melaye's Bachelor of Arts statement of results has ABU logo.

Documents obtained exclusively by Saturday Punch through painstaking and thorough investigations showed that the embattled senator has a Bachelor of Arts certificate in Geography from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The senator, apart from bagging a third class as shown in the statement of result (image below), also possesses a diploma certificate from the University of Jos.

However, the senator only has a statement of results from ABU. And not only that, checks at the university revealed that it only offers B.Sc. Geography and not B.A. Geography as reflected on Melaye’s statement of results.

Melaye’s trouble began on Monday, March 20, 2017 when an online news medium, Sahara Reporters, in a tweet alleged that the senator did not graduate from ABU for his first degree, against his claim that he studied Geography in the prestigious institution.

The news medium also alleged that Melaye, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory, bribed his Head of Department, who assisted him to forge his transcript.

In a series of tweets via its Twitter handle, @SaharaReporters, the online news medium said some lecturers in the Geography Department insisted that Melaye did not graduate from the department and that his name was not on the graduation list because he failed five compulsory courses.

Following the report, which gained traction speedily, Melaye dismissed the allegations, daring the news medium to sue him if it had authentic evidence to back its claims.

He took to his twitter handle and wrote, “Sahara Reporters, please sue me and ABU if it is true that I did not graduate from Zaria. Tell Magu (EFCC Chairman) to arrest and prosecute me.”

Melaye also boasted that he was currently a student in ABU pursuing his seventh degree, adding, “Go round all the UNIS (universities) I attended in digging more.”

A day after the news broke, Melaye, while speaking on the floor of the Senate, also addressed himself as an “authentic graduate” of ABU.

Meanwhile, when ABU was contacted to verify the conflicting information, the institution’s Information Officer, Adamu Mohammed, promised that the institution would come out with its position on Wednesday, which it failed to do as of the time of filing this report.

Amid the controversy, documents revealed that the senator had a statement of results with the logo of ABU.

The statement of results read, “This is to certify that Daniel Jonah Melaye having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations as, under the authority of the Senate been awarded the Bachelor of Arts (Geography) with Third Class honours.”

The statement, issued by the Office of the Registrar, Academic Office and dated February 3, 2000, was signed by B.B. Mshelthlila.

There are, however, certain discrepancies that beg for more clarifications. For instance, in the statement of results, his name was given as “Daniel Jonah MELAYE.” However, checks by one of our correspondents on https://abu.edu.ng/ revealed that Geography is in the Faculty of Science and not the Faculty of Arts as reflected in the statement of results.

Also, in the senator’s NYSC discharge certificate, which was issued on July 8, 2001, his name read “Melaye Daniel” and not Daniel Jonah as shown in the statement of results.

Also, in the diploma certificate issued to him by the University of Jos on August 3, 2006, his name read “Daniel Dino Melaye.”

He was issued an Advanced Diploma certificate in Law, Security and Conflict Resolution. He finished with ‘Lower Credit’ on August 3, 2006.

However, in his Senior School Certificate in 1992, his name read ‘Melaiye Daniel Jonah O.’ with Melaye being wrongly spelt.

In the result, he had P8 in English Language, P8 in Mathematics, P8 in Geography, P8 in Chemistry, C5 in Christian Religious Knowledge, P7 in Economics, C6 in Biology and B3 in Agric Science.

When contacted again by a correspondents on his mobile telephone on Friday evening, the Information Officer, ABU, Mr. Adamu Mohammed, sounded hostile.

“Please, this is not official time; call me tomorrow, thank you, goodnight,” he said and hung up.

It will be recalled that in furtherance to his defence, Melaye had reportedly claimed that he obtained degrees from the prestigious Harvard University, London School of Economics and Political Science and a post-graduate degree from the University of Jos.

But in a swift response to an enquiry, Harvard University, in a statement from the Registrar’s office, on Thursday noted that Melaye was not a graduate of the institution as he only completed a week-long leadership seminar in November 2016.

The London School of Economics equally responded on Thursday, saying there was no proof on the institution’s database that Melaye obtained any degree from the school.

But on Thursday, he filed a N5bn libel suit against Sahara Reporters at a FCT High Court. Meanwhile, given the Senate’s decision to investigate the allegation and the uproar the report had generated, Melaye had since taken to the social media to exonerate himself of all the allegations.

Moments after he filed the suit, he took to the social media to post pictures of the cover and certification pages of his Master’s project, and a group picture of his days as a corps member, even though he was the only one not in uniform.

He wore a white T-shirt and blue shorts, adding that he served in Kaduna State in 1999. The caption on the picture read, “ABU 99 set at NYSC camp in KD. Me in blue shorts.”

Also, on Friday, Wikipedia, had edited Melaye’s profile to include ‘Certificate Scandal’, which briefly chronicled the issues surrounding the ongoing certificate brouhaha..

Certificate Scandal: Federal Government Demands Dino Melaye's Academic Details

Certificate Scandal: Federal Government Demands Dino Melaye's Academic Details
Following the controversy over the academic certificate of Senator Dino Melaye with many sources alleging that he didn't graduate from ABU, the Federal Government has written the university.
Senator Dino Melaye

The Federal Government has officially demanded the authority of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) to supply the academic details of lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, following the controversy over his completion of his degree programme in Geography at the University, Guardian reports.

This new development followed information revealed by a top official of ABU, Zaria, who said: “the University is already compiling the records of Senator Dino Melaye for the Government that demanded the immediate release to Government and the University will respond soon.”

According to the official, “nobody is in doubt if Senator Melaye attended the University, but what people are saying is whether he completed his course of study and the university will make the relevant information available,” adding that, “to the best of my knowledge, the Senator was on this campus and read a course of study for which I think he graduated between 1997 and 1998 as the case may be.

“These details can always be found in the list of graduating students of Geography in either of those years as the case may be, but for me, I think he ran a programme and I should think he successfully ended up in either of those years I mentioned.”

Besides, a Student Union Government (SUG) official activist and departmental mate of Senator Melaye, who also pleaded anonymity, said, “the Senator and I were in Geography Department and two of us were also officials of the National Union of Geography Students at ABU.”

He remarked, “while Dino was the National President of Geography Department, I was the Assistant Secretary General, I presided over his impeachment during the controversy leading to his ousting from that office.

“Let me tell you, Dino was a radical student activist in campus. I will give that to him and at a point he was confrontational to the establishment in the University. And at last, the institution did everything possible to bring him close and later became the eyes of the authority on campus.”

According to him, “I can attest that Senator Dino actually completed a course of study in Geography in 1998; whether he had carry-over in some courses that were later waved is what I cannot say.”

“I think Dino later graduated from ABU, Zaria with a Third class or Pass. I am sure of that. Let anybody not deceive you that he did not study or graduate in ABU. Go and find out, he did. He is stubborn, that I will give to him. And I think that is what is still trailing him in the Senate,” he said.

Game Up for Magu as DSS Submits 12 Hard Pieces of Evidence Against Him

Game Up for Magu as DSS Submits 12 Hard Pieces of Evidence Against Him
This might be the end for it as the Department of State Security Service has submitted 12 hard pieces of evidence indicting Ibrahim Magu.
Acting EFCC Chairaman, Ibrahim Magu

This might be all that is needed for Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu to throw in the towel as the the Department of State Services, DSS has submitted twelve hard pieces of evidence indicting him in some shady deals.

The report by the DSS described Magu as a fraudulent officer and a perennial offender who would never change. According to Punch, the report was signed by one Folasade Bello on behalf of the Director-General of the DSS, was in response to a letter sent to the DSS by the AGF dated December 19, 2016 with reference number, HAGF/DSS/2016/Vol 1/7.

The DSS also attached the 12 documents as evidence against Magu who was rejected by the Senate last week based on the damning security report.

The report revealed that Magu while serving on the presidential arms procurement probe panel befriended a fellow member of the panel, Air Commodore Mohammed Umar (retd.).

Umar was later arrested and charged by the DSS sometimes last year for alleged money laundering and illegal possession of firearms.

According to the DSS, Umar said in his confessional statement that his company furnished Magu’s official residence in upscale Maitama.

It reads in part, “This is a copy of the confessional statement of the confessional statement of Air Commodore Mohammed Umar (retd.), a suspect hitherto detained and currently being prosecuted by the service.

“The statement confirms his ownership of Valcour SA Nigeria Limited, a company awarded the contract of securing and furnishing an official residence for Ibrahim Magu by the FCTA. Investigations revealed that this was facilitated after Magu was earlier shown the residence by one Uche Aleka, a close business associate of Umar who was introduced to Magu by the former.”

The security service said when Umar’s house was searched by operatives, several top secret documents, which emanated from the EFCC were found at his residence, evidence that Magu was providing him with sensitive information.

It added, “This is a copy of progress report with reference number SH/COS/24/A/7277 dated 25th May, 2016 on NNPC/NLG Brass Investments Accounts in Nigeria commercial banks from Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari, to the acting Chairman of the EFCC chairman. The letter is an official/classified document of the EFCC, which was duly received by the commission as indicated by the stamp on the document. However, it was recovered at Umar’s residence.”

The DSS alleged that Magu allegedly used his position to settle personal scores with his perceived opponents.

It concludes, “It has exposed Magu as a fraudulent officer and betrays the high confidence reposed in him by the President.”

The DSS had in December given a damning verdict in a memo sent to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN when the AGF requested additional information and documents from the DSS over allegations contained in the Service’s security report on Magu to the Senate.

Attached to the DSS memo signed by one Folashade Bello on behalf of the Director General of the service were 12 annexures to back its findings on Magu.

The controversial memo by the DSS made available by Saturday Sun reads: “An officer appointed as Ag. Chairman of EFCC should by all means be one of impeccable credentials, with proven integrity and capacity to lead the nation’s fight against graft in high and low places.

"Thus far, it is evident from Magu’s antecedents that he is by no means that kind of officer. His relationship with Umar Mohammed, which involved disclosure of very sensitive and classified official documents in his possession shows lack of professionalism and assails his integrity.

“Moreso, for an officer who was indicted and nearly dismissed six (6) years ago, to be involved in similar circumstances again, it is clear that Magu is a perennial offender and cannot change.

“Also worthy of note is the fact that Magu exhibited a total lack of judgment where it mattered most. He accepted to move into a tastefully furnished accommodation without any scrutiny of how it was furnished. This is curious and speaks volumes of his personality.

“The recovery of sensitive and classified documents from the residence of Umar further underlays his close affinity to Magu and an apparent penchant for sabotaging official processes and administrative protocols, just to further the latter’s personal material and pecuniary agenda.

“Such mutually beneficial relationships as with Umar, who by his confession, approaches ‘clients’ for possible exploitation, favours and associated returns is unprecedented and very damning for an anti-graft top official. It has exposed Magu as a fraudulent officer and betrays the high confidence reposed in him by Mr. President.

“A further demonstration of Magu’s questionable credibility as an untainted anti-corruption official is his failed bid to settle personal scores with one Stanley Inye Lawson by placing him on Security Watch Action. It was however, discovered that Lawson was actually working in the interest of the Federal Government and the action was subsequently expunged.

“This reinforces the view that Magu may continue to exploit his official position if confirmed as EFCC Chairman, and indulge in other unprofessional and criminal conducts for personal aggrandizement contrary to his oath of office.”

Senator Dino Melaye Only Had Three Credits in WAEC - SaharaReporters

Senator Dino Melaye Only Had Three Credits in WAEC - SaharaReporters
Many people are wondering how Senator Dino Melaye gained admission into the university following recent revelation that he only had three credits in WAEC.
Senator Dino Melaye

It has been revealed according to SaharaReporters that Senator Dino Melaye was a dismal student who earned only three credits according to his West African Examination Council (WAEC) result sheets.

The report revealed that Melaye sat for the WAEC exams at the Abdulazeez Attah Memorial College, Okeke in Kogi State. His results, exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, reveal that Senator Melaye, whose name on the result sheets was registered as Daniel Jonah O. Melaiye, only made three credits in Christian Religious Studies (C5), Agricultural Science (A3) and Biology (C6). Melaye took 6 other subjects including English Language (P8), Mathematics (P8), Chemistry (P8), Economics (P7) and Physics (F9).

The dismal performance meant that Mr. Melaye did not have the minimum requisite credits to gain admission into a Nigerian university to study for a bachelor’s degree. In fact, the only way he could have been admitted for studies at a Nigerian university was if he earned other credits from another secondary school.

Mr. Melaye did not list his secondary school education on his www.linkedin.com profile. Nor did he provide it on his senatorial profile on the website of the Nigerian National Assembly. Instead, he listed Gandun Nasarawa Primary School in Kano as the source of his West African School Certificate. Pupils in primary school are not eligible to sit WAEC exams.

Authorities at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria have stopped responding to inquiries from the media to provide proof that Mr. Melaye fulfilled the requirements for admission and graduation at the university in 1993.

Two of Mr. Melaye’s classmates yesterday disclosed that the senator was impeached as the President of the National Association of Geography Students (NAGS) in 1998/99 because he was accused of stealing a brand new TV set purchased by the association. He replaced the stolen TV set with an old one.

Since Mr. Melaye’s certificate scandal broke, the senator has sued SaharaReporters for libel and defamation, making a court appearance at a Federal Capital Territory court in Abuja. The senator has also today petitioned the Inspector General of the Nigerian police claiming that the expose of his shady academic records by SaharaReporters constitutes a “cybercrime”.
