Speaking while addressing journalists in his Palace in Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, the Abia state capital, Eze Israel Kanu, the father of incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, revealed forces behind son’s detention
According to DailyPost, the monarch accused founder of Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Ralph Uwazuruike, of being responsible for the continued detention of his son.
According to Kanu’s father, “Uwazurike was irked because his son raised alarm over huge monies he collected for the well-being of helpless Biafran youths which was misused.”
The traditional ruler maintained that “Uwazuruike masterminded the arrest of Kanu,” who doubles as the Director of Radio Biafra upon his arrival in Nigeria.
Stressing that his son never committed the crimes in the country, Eze Kanu appealed to the Nigerian Government to release his son.
Kanu has been incarcerated since 2015 when he was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS, in Lagos.
The IPOB leader is currently standing trial before justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for charges bothering on terrorism.
